Senior Mechanical Applications Engineer

Position Overview

This role is ideal for a highly motivated self-starter with experience in welding, brazing, machining, and product development. You'll lead the journey from customer concept to product launch, and continue to support the product through upgrades, optimizations, and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interface directly with customers to define product requirements and provide technical support.
  • Lead product design, development, and prototyping for welded, brazed, and machined assemblies.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, ensuring compliance with GD&T, manufacturing standards, and cost targets.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes, including tooling, routings, work instructions, and fixturing.
  • Support product launches with hands-on floor presence and ensure timely documentation release.
  • Own the product lifecycle: provide ongoing support, implement upgrades, and resolve issues as needed.
  • Analyze inspection and test data (CMM, NDT, etc.) to validate product quality and drive improvements.
  • Process ECNs, MRBs, and support root cause investigations and corrective actions.
  • Provide accurate cost estimates for new product quotes and participate in cost reduction initiatives.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with design, quality, and production teams to meet technical and delivery goals.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
  • 4+ years of experience in manufacturing engineering, including product development and NPI.
  • Hands-on experience with welding (GTAW/TIG), brazing, machining, and fixture design.
  • Proficient in interpreting industry and customer specs (military/aerospace experience preferred).
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks, MRP/ERP systems (Oracle preferred), and quality systems (AS9100, Six Sigma, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical info clearly to customers and internal teams.
